First Kiss

She turned with the spear, intending to use it more as a staff and hit him hard enough to put his left arm out of commission, when Gar caught the staff, his hands grasping hers. He was smiling while she fumed; he somehow always knew what she was going to do, as if he could read her mind. As she glared up at him, his expression changed subtly and he leaned down and planted a kiss full on her lips.

Kindra jumped back in surprise, and as he let her hands go she swung the spear forward, catching him across the chest.

"Hey!" he said in surprise, "why did you do that?" He had been practicing shirtless, as he usually did with her, and grabbed up his crumpled shirt to press against the wound. It wasn't deep enough to scar, he didn't think, but he'd have Kaye look at it later and give him something to help.

"I might ask the same thing!" she replied indignantly. "You should know better than to surprise someone who has a weapon."

Gar laughed despite himself - yes, he supposed that was true. But he hadn't thought it would be that much of a surprise, honestly. "Well then, next time I will let you know that's its coming," he winked and looked down as he pulled the shirt away. The blood was stopping; it was a fairly shallow wound.

"Yes, do that please," Kindra spat and frowned at him, "then I will at least have time to get the spear to your throat before you lean in."

"Kindra," he chided lightheartedly. "You wouldn't try to cut my throat would you?"

"Not unless you try kissing me again."

Chuckling, Gar dabbed at the last bit of blood and threw his ruined shirt back on the ground. "You know," he started with a grin, "Trina's Day is coming up. You may be fighting off more than just me then."

Kindra spat on the ground to show her dislike of such things as days devoted to kissing behind bushes. "I'll have my spear very close to me come Trina's Day," she replied tersely, "although I doubt anyone is crazy enough to try anything with all the other doe-eyed girls around, mooning after the warrior's like dogs in heat."

Breaking out into laughter, Gar leaned in, the point of her spear hovering dangerously close to his neck. "Well I will have you know I'm not much taken by dogs in heat, nor does. I prefer something a little harder to catch."

Kindra pushed him back with her spear and abandoned their practicing grounds. Gar, still smiling, bent over and picked up his shirt, making his way at a casual pace back to the village to find the twin whose powers lie better in healing than in hurting.
